The Masters starts on Thursday 7th April and finishes on Sunday 10th April and it’s a course that favours left handed players. In the last 13 years this tournament has been won by left handers 6 times and I have 2 of them to trade.
Whether you are a regular golf punter or just like to bet on the majors you’ll probably agree that you can put forward a case for several players to win here. So backing a player to win outright is playing into the hands of the bookies as they will be offering plenty of specials to compete for your business.
What I like to do instead is trade them as that way you can potentially have free bets on a handful of players. All trading is, is backing a player and then laying them at a lesser price in running on a betting exchange such as Betfair. Trading is very low risk and a great way to build up your betting bank.
Also I like to lay players which is betting on them not to win, like with trading you can’t do this with any bookmaker but only with a betting exchange.
Jason Day
With 3 weeks to go Jason Day has just shot -13 after 2 rounds of the Arnold Palmer Invitational and I will take a chance that he is about to come into form at the right time for the first Major of the year now as his price may well shorten come Sunday if he wins this tournament.
He has played The Masters 5 times and was placed twice and was injured the other 3 times.

Back Day at 10.00

Lay Day in running at 6.00

Bubba Watson
Left handed Bubba has won this in 2012 and 2014 and is definitely a player to have on your side. Yes it will no doubt be a roller coaster ride with Bubba but this course really suits his game. He has a few top 5 finishes so far in 2016 and is looking like he is playing himself into form.
However he finished 38th and 50th in 2013 and 2015 so because of that I would prefer to trade him.

Back Watson at 14.00
-
Lay Watson in running at 11.00

Phil Mickelson
Phil has won over $7,500,000 in this tournament and has won it 3 times in the last 12 years! He is an erratic player who is ideal for trading as he can on a birdie spree. He reminds me a lot of the late Seve Ballesteros who will often be playing in and around trees, but his touch around the greens more than makes up for it.
Another left hander who is proven at this course and could be in the mix again.

Back Mickleson at 25.00
-
Lay Mickleson at 21.00

Rory McIlroy
Rory has changed his putting grip 2 or 3 weeks ago and there is no way that his putting will be up to scratch on the lightening fast greens at Augusta. It will take months for him to get used to his new technique.
He is the current favourite to win but I would be laying him from the start if his price was a little bit lower. He doesn’t play well here and has only managed 1 top 5 finish in 7 attempts and that was 4th last year.
-
Lay McIlroy for a top 5 finish at 2.90
~~~~~
Dustin Johnson
Dustin averages 1 tournament win per year and like Rory he doesn’t have a good record here as he has never had a top 5 finish and the best that he has finished was tied 6th last year.
-
Lay Johnson for a top 5 finish at 5.00
NB – You can only trade and lay on a betting exchange such as Betfair and not with a bookmaker. All the prices above are with Betfair Exchange.
