Snooker – World Championship Draw & Outright Winner Betting Tips

It really doesn’t seem that long ago when Mark Selby was parading around the Crucible with a Leicester City flag when he won last year’s World Championship. Here we are once again, with seventeen days of world class snooker where the best players on planet earth will do battle to be crowned the 2017 World Champion.

It all kicks off on Saturday morning and concluded on Monday 1st May.  There are three sessions every day (morning, afternoon and evening) until the final when there are just the two (2pm & 7pm). Please note that the afternoon sessions times vary from 1pm – 2.30pm, so make sure to double check the times if you are planning an afternoon in front of the box!

I will be tipping on a daily basis, but first I will be picking a player from each quarter for the outright win market and the prices below are all with Betfair Exchange.

The Draw

Mark Selby (1) v Fergal O’Brien
Ryan Day (16) v Xiao Guodong
Neil Robertson (9) v Noppon Saengkham
Marco Fu (8) v Luca Brecel
Shaun Murphy (5) v Yan Bingtao
Ronnie O’Sullivan (12) v Gary Wilson
Liang Wenbo (13) v Stuart Carrington
Ding Junhui (4) v Zhou Yuelong
Stuart Bingham (3) v Peter Ebdon
Kyren Wilson (14) v David Grace
Mark Allen (11) v Jimmy Robertson
John Higgins (6) v Martin Gould
Barry Hawkins (7) v Tom Ford
Ali Carter (10) v Graeme Dott
Anthony McGill (15) v Stephen Maguire
Judd Trump (2) v Rory McLeod

Mark Selby – Quarter One

Mark has been the world number one for the last two years and has won the World Championship twice in the last three years. So he should be the favourite in my eyes and has to be the value in the top part of the betting market.

BACK TO LAY – Selby (2 points) at 5.80 (5/1)

~~~
Ronnie O’ Sullivan – Quarter Two
The Ronald has won this tournament five times, but not in the last three years! He has only won one tournament this season and that was in front of his “home crowd” in The Masters.
Personally I think The Ronald’s heart isn’t in snooker anymore and hasn’t been for some time. He is still very talented but his best days are behind him so he is a lay for me here.
LAY – O’ Sullivan (1 point) 6.40 (11/2)
~~~

Kyren Wilson – Quarter Three

Kyren is a future World Champion in my opinion and I will be having a little dabble on him every year until he wins.

BACK TO LAY – Back Wilson (1 point) at 42.00 (41/1)

~~~
Judd Trump – Quarter Four
Judd is box office when he is playing well and he is very capable of beating any player. But his attacking style of play gives his opposition plenty of chances and over this long format I feel that he will get found out.
He is the tournament favourite due to his recent form, but unless he changes his tactics for this tournament he won’t be lifting the trophy on Bank Holiday Monday.
LAY – Trump (2 points) at 5.10 (4/1)
Free Horse Racing Betting Tips – Tue 11th Apr
horse racing image
I try to put up my backing tips up on here around 5pm – 6pm the night before to take advantage of early prices, but it won’t always be possible everyday throughout April and May.
My lay tips will be either be up the night before or in the morning as there is no real urgency for these as I advise to lay at Betfair SP.
I recommend that my backing tips are for one point win singles with bookmakers that offer BOG and they are not ideal to group together as multiples!
My results spreadsheet can be seen here.
A lot can happen after I put up my horse racing lay tips such as non runners and favourites drifting out in the betting, so I will introduce a set of rules to cover all outcomes here.
My laying tips should be be posted up on here around 6.30pm the night before racing, but they may well up later than that for April and May as I have a lot on then. My backing tips should be up around 5pm to take advantage of early prices.
WGC Dell Match Play – Day 3
Today is the final day of the group stages where see the field reduced from 64 players to 16 with the top player from each group going through to 16 man knock-out format.
So far so good with 4/5 tips right so far and I will continue to lay for the rest of the tournament.
There are 32 matches again today but I only going to look at the 13 matches of players who have won twice and try to pick out the weakest opposition and lay them.
Koepka v Willet
  • *Lay Willet at 2.90 (15/8)
Day v Casey
WGC – Cadillac Championships (Lay)
Dustin Johnson had the best score of round 2, an 8 under bogey free round to leave him sitting  in joint 2nd place with Rory McIlroy.
Now 1 thing for sure is that a player very rarely has 2 great rounds back to back, so I expect the field to catch up on Dustin on Saturday.
  • Adam Scott -10
  • Dustin Johnson -8
  • Rory McIlroy -8
  • Danny Willet -7
  • Charlie  Hoffman -6
  • Bubba Watson -6
  • Phil Mickleson -5
  • Paul Casey -5
johnson dustin
Dustin has won at this course before and is a long hitter which are usually the attributes to back a player to win. But he only wins 1 tournament per year and tends to bottle it when it really matters so I will lay him in every tournament in running at 4/1 as a profit over the year is almost guaranteed. Plus I have the added bonus of Scott, McIlroy, Willet & Mickleson & Co fighting my corner for me.
LAY Dustin Johnson
4/1
The Honda Classic – (R3 In Running)
Sergio Garcia just hit the front with 4 birdies and is bound to drop a shot soon! Rickie Fowler has just made his 2nd bogey for round 3. So I will trade Sergio now at a slightly lower price and hope both bets get matched.
garcia
LAY Garcia at 3.10 and then back him at 4.20 once the LAY bet has been matched
